Glass Peace Gallery
is a collaboration of artwork created by Amir Shawn and Allison Hill. We are located on the peninsula in beautiful Gig Harbor, Washington. The studio is primarily a flame-working studio, which means all the glass has been created using a torch. The glass we use is called borosilicate (Pyrex™) which is a very durable, shock resistant type of glass. It all starts with different sized rods, tubes, and colors. After being manipulated and blown, each piece is placed in a kiln. The kiln is controlled by a small computer and runs an annealing cycle. To anneal, the glass is heated evenly and held at the correct temperature so all the molecules become aligned thus relieving any stress caused while working the glass. Running an annealing cycle, followed by a very slow cooling process is key to the durability of the glass. As artists our goal is to take time on every piece of art we create. We love making art, and it is important to us that you get a piece of artwork that you will love and be proud to own. We hope the peace of mind we feel throughout the creation process is passed on with each piece.
