Amir Shawn
Hello everyone, my name is Amir Shawn. I have been a glass artist since 2001. I was first introduced to flame-working by my friends Joey Morrison, Monty Gwaltney, Michael Conrad, and others. I began studying under Roger Paramore, Genevieve Church, and Chris McElroy at Pratt Fine Arts in Seattle. Soon after, I attended Pilchuck Glass School to continue my studies under the maestro Roger Paramore. Since then, I worked the summer of 2006 at Pilchuck, where I learned the art of neon in vessels. While at Pilchuck I was able to watch many demonstrations from artists such as Pinot Signoretto, Lino Tagliapietra, Boyd Sugiki, Ross Richmond, and many more. These experiences have helped me to recognize the amazing possibilities of glass, and the know-how to achieve them. Recently I have shifted my focus from making big blown vessels, to smaller more intricate patterns in the form of pendants. Although these pendants are solid, many of the patterns are created by drawing on the outside of a tube, blowing the pattern out to a very thin bubble, then shrinking it back to a solid piece again. By shrinking the bubble, the pattern becomes a very intricate and complicated design. I like to try new things all the time, and figures out fresh things of my own, which even glassblowers would be amazed by.Right now I am trying to develop some photography skills. One of the most difficult parts in doing this web thing is taking good pictures, and glass is one of the hardest things to photograph. So please bare with us through this learning curve. One good thing is you will always get a piece of art that looks better than the picture.I understand that shopping online is not the same as going to a store and being able to have to the piece in your hand to look at it closely. So I would like to extend a money back guarantee on all my artwork. If you are not satisfied in any way, let me know and I will make it up to you in any way I can. Thank you all for taking a look, if you have any questions at all, please drop me a note.
