Glass Dichroic Galaxy Pendants

Bringing to mind the celestial night sky, our Galaxy pendants use dichroic glass, but are manipulated on a torch like our other lampwork pieces, rather than fused. The term “dichro” refers to glass that contains a coating of ultra-thin layers of metals (gold and silver) and metal oxides (titanium, chromium, aluminum, zirconium, magnesium, and silica). Dichroic glass transmits and reflects light and colors that change and shift when viewed from different angles, creating a spectacular shimmering effect. After forming the pendants in a flame, they are annealed in a kiln to remove any stresses, resulting in a pendant that is strong and durable enough to stand the test of time.
